President Mahama declares fasting and prayers across the country, for peace and unity throughout the electioneering period
President John Mahama has called on Ghanaians to dedicate three days to fast and pray for the nation, ahead of the December 7 general elections.
The countdown is on for all Ghanaians, as the much anticipated general election is only five days away.

Mahama has urged all Christians, Muslims and every other faith, to participate in the exercise which he plans to start on Friday, December 2, 2016 through to Sunday, December 4, 2016.
The President has asked all Ghanaians to dedicate their specific days of worship – Friday, Saturday and Sunday to pray to God to intercede for Ghana, as the nation fasts and prays for continuous peace and stability.
This was made known in a statement signed and issued by Communications Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, and released on behalf of the President, on Thursday.
The statement expressed Mahama the President’s desire to prove once again to the world, that Ghana is a nation which absolutely upholds its democracy. The exercise is aimed at praying to God for peace and unity among Ghanaians throughout the electioneering period.

His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana is urging Christians and Muslims including all people of faith to dedicate three days (Friday, 2nd – Sunday, 4th December, 2016) to fast and pray for the nation ahead of the imminent December 7 elections.
As we fast and pray for continuous peace and stability in Ghana before, during and after the elections, the President is further urging all to dedicate their specific days of worship- Friday, Saturday and Sunday to pray to God to intercede for Ghana.
It is his belief that through fasting and prayers, supported by appropriate measures and actions on the part of all stakeholders, “Our dear nation will once again demonstrate to the world that Ghana is not only the beacon of hope for Africa’s Democracy but also the nation ready and willing to continue on the path of progress and prosperity for all.”
