Former President John Dramani Mahama has condemned what he refers to as “the unprovoked attacks on NDC functionaries and supporters”.
Citing the raid which was carried out by some men said to be from the military, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) and national security on Wednesday at the premises of the NDC’s National Organiser, Kofi Adams, Mr. Mahama called for such actions to be put to an end.
“Yesterday the National Organiser of the NDC’s residence was invaded by security men from the seat of Government, the Flagstaff House in his absence, in search of vehicles when they knew very well they were on the wrong path. This must end,” he wrote on his Facebook wall Thursday morning.
Speaking to Accra based radio, Asempa FM, Mr. Kofi Adams disclosed that fifteen men in military attires wielding AK47s stormed his house and confiscated five vehicles from his residence at the Tema Golf City.
Three Pick-Ups – two belonging to his brother – as well as a Land Cruiser, and another car of a make he could not readily recall were taken by the soldiers who claimed were acting on the orders of the Interior Minister, Albert Kan Dapaah.
They reportedly added that the vehicles were suspected to belong to the state and were taken to the Flagstaff House.
The NDC’s National Organiser who is currently in Dubai stated that he personally called Mr Kan-Dapaah to enquire if he, indeed, sent any soldiers on that assignment, but the Minister answered in the negative.
