Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, is extremely worried about the spate at which appointees and family members of President Mahama are allegedly signing dubious contracts with the speed of light.
The outgoing Mahama administration has come under close scrutiny following allegations that National Democratic Congress has recruited persons into the public sector and is awarding fresh contracts days after they lost the elections.
It is on this note that the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP has raised an alarm concerning certain shady deals that involve the Electricity Company of Ghana and IMES Ghana.
According to the NPP chair popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, he is reliably informed that IMES Ghana – an intelligent metering and energy solutions company is engaged in a dubious act with ECG and needs to be exposed before a new government led by Nana Akufo Addo takes over next year.
In an interview with Peacefmonline.com, Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako called on the transition team to turn their light on the dark acts currently taking place at ECG through the “connivance of President Mahama, his brothers and appointees”.
“I want to take this vow today and I will ensure it is fulfilled. If anybody, from Mahama’s family, thinks he would loot the state for the last time and go scot-free, I will make sure he gets punished. I will embarrass that soul and teach that person a bitter lesson,” he said.
Efforts to reach officials of IMES Ghana for a possible reaction to the story have so far proved futile.
Meanwhile, both sides of the transition team have reached a compromise regarding the signing of new contracts and other decisions with major financial implications by the President John Mahama-led administration in its last days.
According to President-elect Nana Akufo-Addo’s transition team, the outgoing administration will hence take all such decisions in consultation with the incoming administration.
The new Spokesperson of the President-elect’s transition team, incoming Ofoase Ayirebi MP Kojo Oppong Nkrumah confirmed this during the transition team’s second meeting on Monday.
