The Campaign Manager of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Peter Mac Manu, has predicted that the country will not experience a run-off in this year’s elections because the party’s Flagbearer Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo –Addo will win one touch.
According to him, the Ghanaian voter has become discerning on which party or politician to vote for or otherwise.
He observed that voting on tribal sentiments have become a thing of the past and that voters cast their votes depending on state of their livelihoods.
Mr. Manu observed that the days where electorate voted based on religion and tribal lines are obsolete.
‘We will win the election one touch, I say this in all the places I have visited that every election is unique, because the environment that we vote changes from one election to the other, the heart beat of every election is the voter, the Ghanaian voter is becoming discerning by the day, he/she is vests in democracy and elections, the voter knows that things have changed, voters do not vote based on their tribes, situations where all Ewes will vote for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) does not work anymore, because it’s not the NDC which pays school fees, electricity bill of people who are struggling,’ he explained.
Historically, most of the country’s election has witnessed series of run-offs.
But speaking on Abusua FM’s Abusua Nkommo hosted by Kwame Adinkrah, he said voters will not be deceived by the lies propagated by NDC members that the country is in good shape.
The Campaign Manager of NPP called on the electorate to vote massively for Nana Addo by voting out the incompetent Mahama led NDC government which has poorly managed the economy.
‘People base their votes on records of a particular government which ruled the country for 8 years, whether to retain that party or not, we will not be deceived by their propaganda, asking where our manifesto is, the NDC couldn’t change the fortunes of the country within 8 years, you couldn’t curb corruption, health problems, unemployment issues, your record of performance in government for 8 years is what is on the table. This election is a referendum on the 8 year rule of the NDC. What is your record of performance,’ he asked.
He wondered why the NDC is on their neck to release their manifesto, saying the campaign promises of the party’s Flagbearer and Vice presidential candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is their manifesto in disguise.
‘When voted into power, we will restore teacher trainee and nurses’ allowances, import duty will be scrapped off for businesses to be competitive, we will create North-West regions, prices of fishermen and farmers inputs will be stabilised, due to our top-notch economic management, all these are in our manifesto,’ he emphasised.
He further questioned why things keep sky-rocketing when government claims of putting in infrastructural developments.
He hinted that the party will release its manifesto by the end of September.
