The Teshie District Police have arrested two young men who have robbed MTN shop attendant of over GH¢6,000 on Monday.
The two Daniel Osei and Elvis Omane reportedly attacked the shop attendant at gun point, robbing her of the money as well as other valuables.
The daylight robbery reportedly occurred around 1:30 Monday afternoon, at Anomato, a suburb of Teshie.
The two suspects, aged 33 and 28 years and both carpenters, reportedly went to the area on a motorbike.
Armed with a locally manufactured pistol and a machete, they attacked the salesgirl at a telecommunication service provider’s shop amidst firing of warning shots.
The armed robbers forced the salesgirl, who was then alone in the shop, to surrender all monies in her possession, recharge cards and some other valuables.
They again ransacked the manager’s office but could not find any money.
However, luck eluded them as the motorbike they came with failed to ignite.
An alarm from the victim attracted residents who pursued and arrested them.
The residents then subjected them to severe beating. But for the timely intervention of the police, they would have been lynched.
The police found on them one locally manufactured pistol, a number of live cartridges, a large knife and an amount of GH¢6,175.
The two admitted the offence in their caution statement but insisted that was their first ever operation.
They will appear in court on Wednesday, February 8 charged with conspiracy, unlawful entry and robbery.
