Close associates of the first family have dismissed reports in circulation on social media suggesting that the marriage of the ‘first couple’ was on the rocks.
Full-fledged investigations have found evidence that swirling rumors on social media that First Lady, Mrs Lordina Mahama and President Mahama are on the brink of getting divorce clearly has no basis and contains no iota of truth.
Rumors of the alleged divorce had gone viral on media networks, mostly in WhatsApp groups, claiming the couple were “hanging on by a thread” and that Lordina has moved out of their official home.
“Normally, we would have no need to join issues with these rumor mongers but for the need to allay the fears of those who might have been misled by their devious garbage, we are compelled to clear the air before this careless, utterly reckless, unethical and the abuse of social media becomes an epidemic,” our source furiously rejected the report.
Our source described the speculation as ‘spurious’ rumor by evil people whose stock-in-trade is to malign public figures and mislead the general public.
“Where and when did the first lady move out? And when was the action or suit filed? The writers did not bother to inform their readers because the answers only exist in the warped imagination of the gossipmongers,” the source stressed.
The family source who was visibly irked by the allegations added that it was part of a coordinated attempt by some opposition politicians to distract the president and the ruling party from campaigning to secure another term of office.
“The first couple are happily married and enjoying the blessings of God,” the source added.
