Like so many other Ghanaians, Kumawood Stars mourn Asantehemaa when they visited The Manhyia Palace on Tuesday…
Popular comic actor Kwadwo Nkansah ‘Liwin’, together with other Kumawood stars were at the Manhyia Palace on Tuesday, January 17, t0 join a host of other mourners to pay their last respects to the late Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II who died in November, 2016 at the age of 111.
Popular miniature-sized actor, Joseph Nana Osei Kofi, aka Wayoosi, was also among the Kumawood Stars who came to commiserate with Asanteman on the death of the Queen Mother.
President Nana Akufo-Addo, former UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan, former President John Agyekum Kufuor, the British High Commissioner to Ghana, Jon Benjamin, and a host of other dignitaries, were also at Manhyia on Monday to pay their last respects to the late Asantehemaa.

The body of the Asantehemaa, late Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, has been laid in state at the Manhyia palace since Monday, awaiting final burial. Thousands of mourners including families, friends, well wishers, etc, are expected to file past the body to pay their last respect to the dead Queen Mother. Tributes upon tributes have also been pouring in from all angles in honour of the late Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II.

The Asantehemaa funeral is a four-day ritual which starts with the laying in state of the body of the late Queen Mother. The late Queen mother’s remains will lay in state from Monday to Thursday when the final burial rites and interment will take place at Breman.
Owing to the cultural requirements for the Asantehemaa funeral, The Manhyia Palace has warned residents not to be seen outside from Bantama to Breman between 6:00 pm on Thursday and 3:00 am on Friday, January 20. It also stated that it will not be held responsible for lives lost within that period. However, essential and utility workers have been exempted from the ban in movement.
