President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has submitted to the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council, the full list of government appointees to serve on the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly to pave the way for their inauguration.
A meeting of the Assembly is expected to be convened soon to swear into office the appointees.
The appointees to most of the various metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies across the country sworn into office Monday but the exercise was suspended in some Assemblies including disagreement over the list and court injunctions.
At the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, the inauguration could not take place due to the unavailability of the names of the appointees at the time.
Public Relations Officer of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Godwin Nyame, explained the government could not submit the names of the appointees, who will form 30 per cent of the entire Assembly.
Speaking on Onua FM’s Yen Nsem Tuesday, the Ashanti Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Sam Pyne, explained that two districts did not submit their list on time for onward submission to the various assemblies.
The delay, he noted, was caused by the decision to ensure more women were appointed, but added “as I speak, all the list have reached the Regional Coordinating Council”.
