Ahead of the December 7 presidential and parliamentary elections, all Ghanaians must be peace ambassadors in order to ensure violence-free polls, Hassan Ayariga, presidential nominee of the All Peoples Congress, has said.
As Ghana goes to the polls, apprehension about the country’s peace has intensified, especially as some flashpoints have been identified by both the police and the Electoral Commission.
Speaking in an interview with Chief Jerry Forson, host of Ghana Yensom on Accra100.5FM in connection with the Eid ul-Adha celebration on Monday September 12, Mr Ayariga said: “Islam is not a religion of violence; it is a religion of peace and love for one another.”
“As we go for the elections, we should all be peace ambassadors, we should prevent violence and promote peace. As media men and friends of the media, we should try to promote peace. Even if we hear violence, we should not promote it, we should try to calm it down.”
