James Kwasi Appiah has been named as the coach of Senior National Team, the Black Stars for a second time, the Ghana FA has announced.
“The decision was taken by the Executive Committee of the GFA on Tuesday after approving the report of the six-man coaching search committee.
“Appiah will be handed a two-year contract and will start his duties on 1st May, 2017.
“He will also take full charge of the Local Black Stars, the FA’s statement read.
Appiah was in the race for the Black Stars job made vacant by Israeli Avram Grant after February together with Cameroon national team coach Hugo Broos and ex-France international Willy Sagnol.
He was in charge when Ghana qualified and participated in the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil but a disastrous campaign saw the Football Association buckle under pressure to part ways with him few weeks after a contract extension.
Appiah, who holds a Fifa/Caf License A certificate, is currently employed by Sudanese top tier side Al-Khartoum and has already informed the club of his intention to leave.
