Ghanaian highlife sensation, Kwaisey Pee, is preparing to release a cover version of one of Daasebre Gyamena’s songs as a tribute to him.
In exclusive interview with Citifmonline.com, Cudjoe Nana Nyarko (CNN), his manager, disclosed Kwaisey’s plans on paying tribute to the late Daasebre Gyamena.
“Kwaisey respects Daasebre and his works so much and will not forget him in anyway as he plans a cover of one of his tunes soon,” he noted.
In the meantime, Kwaisey is out with a single titled It’s About Time which features Flowking Stone. This song is one of the great tunes in his current repertoire that will blow people of their feet.
Kwaisey has new songs with Sarkodie, Kofi Kinaata and J Martins. He is also preparing to release a new one with Kofi Bee and Trigmatic.
According to CNN, Kwaisey has upcoming projects for street children, mental psychiatric hospitals and football.
His new management outfit, Cudia Linkx, is feverishly planning on sprucing up his brand and presence.
“He’s yet to stage a huge come-back for the lovers of highlife and to bring back the good old feelings of love of his tunes. He’ll do this come-back with very popular highlife gurus in Ghana and also extend to his friends from other country to join him; this is slated to happen before the end of the year and his management- CUDIA LINKX- is working round the clock,” CNN further stated.
Born Akwasi Opoku to a legendary artist, Agyeiku, he grew up with Rex Omar as a first cousin.
He played with various bands like Jewel’s Ackah’s Butterfly Six and Nana Tuffour’s Sikadwa Band.
Kwaisey Pee is noted for songs like ‘Krokro Me,’ ‘Akona Yaa,’ ‘Me Hia Odo,’ ‘Ku Me Preko,’ ‘Osugyani,” among others.
