There were spontaneous jubilations in Kumasi following the appointment of Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh as Minister designate for Education.
Dr Prempeh, nicknamed ‘Napo,’ who is the Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South, is much loved and adored by the people of Kumasi.
He is widely seen by the people in the city as hard-working, committed, patriotic and a visionary person, who can change the face of education in the country.
Most residents in the city were therefore on cloud-nine when President Akufo-Addo mentioned his name as the new minister for Education.
Elated-looking people in the city, who could not hide their joy, were seen making merry and loudly mentioning Napo’s name as they jubilated around.
The people also commended President Akufo-Addo for being able to identify the qualities of Napo and consequently appointed him as a minister.
“It takes a good leader to identify the potential in people and duly appoint them into his government and the president has done exactly that,” Kwame Boamah said.
Boamah, who is a resident of Kumasi, added “Napo has been an exceptional MP for the past eight years and everybody is aware of his extraordinary leadership qualities.
“President Akufo-Addo is also an experienced politician who had seen the special qualities in Napo, hence appointing him as a minister in his government.”
Yaw Agyare of Krofrom, on his part, boldly predicted that Ghana’s education sector will boom with Napo as the sector minister.
