The infrastructural development of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government of 1993 to 2001 outstripped that of the erstwhile Kufuor administration of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Member of Parliament for Ketu South Fiifi Kwetey has said.
According to Mr Kwetey, in spite of the fact that the NPP had eleven times more revenue and grants than the NDC government led by then-President Jerry Rawlings in the eight years it governed, they (NPP) failed to complete a single affordable housing project during their tenure.
Addressing a press conference in Accra on Thursday, September 22, dubbed the ‘2016 Series of Setting the Records Straight’, Mr Kwetey said: “The NDC built three regional hospitals against zero by the non-performing NPP.
NDC in that period can boast of establishing public universities against zero by the non-performing NPP.
NDC1 established seven polytechnics against zero by the non-performing NPP, NDC1 built houses for workers at Adentan, Sakumono, Dansoman, Tema Community 3, and virtually all regional capitals in Ghana.
The non-performing NPP woefully failed to complete even a single affordable house in eight long years.
“NDC1 provided 2,143 head teachers’ bungalows for basic schools and 191 bungalows at the secondary level; the non-performing NPP provided zero in eight long years. NDC1 provided 110 science resource centres against NPP’s zero for the eight years…”
