Kufuor Foundation Partners Millennium Promise Alliance To Fight Hunger

The John Agyekum Kufuor Foundation has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Millennium Promise Alliance aimed at reducing hunger in Ghana.

“The Millennium Promise Alliance has had several projects in Ghana. We want to work in practical areas of leadership where the Foundation has taken the lead.”

“We discussed youth leadership and we have agreed that in 2017 we will hold a worldwide conference in Accra as part of our joint partnership of young leaders promoting the Sustainable Development Goals. We will be working on agricultural initiatives, information technology initiatives, nutrition initiatives, health care initiatives, and generally to work together to promote the SDGs.”

Ex-president Kufuor in his address underscored the need for strong partnerships to equip the youth of Ghana in transforming Africa through information technology.

“We need very strong partners to leap-frog into the mainstream of the rapidly advancing. With a man like Prof. Jeffrey Sachs as a partner, we know we are onto a good thing. I believe our youth have gotten the basic education and knowledge that will enable them use the extension of technologies that is needed to help in transforming our society to set an example in the neighbourhood of our continent.”

“Our continent at large is felt far behind at large. But this continent should be the continent of this century. And we can only catch up with the rest of the world when we use the partnerships offered to us through the agencies of the United Nations ad similar institutions”
