Kotoko will no longer be in Libya next week for the friendly international match against Al Ahli Tripoli, Operations Director, Ernest Owusu Ansah has said. The Porcupines were planning to leave the country on Sunday night for the North African country.
However the Operations Director of the club told Asantekotokosc on Friday morning that, the trip has been canceled. “We are not going to Libya” he said. “There’s been communication breakdown from the agent who was facilitating the process” he explained adding that Kotoko’s correspondences to the agent haven’t not been responded to well hence the need for the cancellation of the trip.
Management received an invitation from the Libyans about a fortnight ago – requesting a friendly match as part of their league and cup triumph celebration. Management after careful considerations accepted the invitation.
They put in place plans to ensure that, the team leaves on the January 22 for the match, which would have been played two days after the team’s arrival.
The match, according to the technical team, would have helped their preparation for the season, as it would have properly fitted into their pre-season high profile matches designed to test the team’s preparedness.
With the cancellation of the trip and the match for that matter, trial matches are to be organised in Kumasi for the team.
