Some Konkomba and Fulanis in Bawa, a farming community in the Nkwanta South District of the Volta Region have clashed in a violent attacks that have left some cattle dead.
The clashes erupted yesterday [Friday November 11] after cattle herded by the Fulanis in the area destroyed food crops belonging to the Kokombas.
According to a local reporter, Benjamin Owusu Obrempong, the agitated Konkomba carried arms and attacked the cattle leaving many dead.
“The Konkombas could not hold on to their peace and carried guns and attacked the Fulanis’ animals in the bush and killed some of the animals.”
The Fulanis reportedly retaliated, but calm was subsequently restored to the area when the police was invited.
The District Chief Executive for Nkwanta South Alfred Kofi Wukanye confirmed that peace has been restored in the area. He said, he, together with the District Police Command went to the area to ensure that the misunderstanding between the two groups was settled. Residents had resumed the usual work activities as at press time.
