A five-year memorandum of understanding to help the Koforidua Technical University in the Eastern Region improve on best practices in institution mentoring has been signed with Hamm-lippstadt University of Applied Sciences.
The MOU will also result in the development of joint degree programmes, joint research, publication of grant application, and exchange programme for staff and students of the Koforidua Technical University.
A short, medium and long term goals have been developed to guide the implementation of the MOU.
Vice chancellor of the Koforidua Technical University, Professor Smile Dzisi who signed for his institution said the University would benefit more in the areas of mechanical engineering, automobile marketing and renewable energy among others.
The MOU signed on Monday was led by the vice chancellor of the koforidua technical university Professor Smile Dzisi and Professor Dr Klaus Zeppenfiled,President of the Hamm-Lippstadt University.
She said it would provide KTU an opportunity to fulfill an essential requirement of the Technical University Act.
“We would develop common courses, this MOU is important to us to come out with strategic measures to achieve the technical university dream of ours in ensuring that quality technical university dream is realised. We would engage in mecha-tronic and other courses in developing our curriculum so we meet the demand market. institutional mentoring is critical,” she said.
Professor Dr Klaus Zeppenfiled, President Hamm-Lippstadt University said the MOU would provide practical technical exchange programmes in the field of energy automotive engineering and business to develop new products of benefits to the two countries.
“We are proud to have developed practice oriented study courses with a clear orientation towards current and future market requirements,” he said.
He added: ” we have invested in energy over the years. For instance in the area of renewable energy, we want to be able to establish and distribute solar panel energy to every village. we would develop research programmes in this regard.”
