Disqualified presidential hopeful Kofi Akpaloo of the Independent People’s Party (IPP) has thrown his weight behind the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the December 7 elections.
Mr Akpaloo and his party aim at helping the NPP win the elections.
Mr Akpaloo was disqualified two consecutive times by the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) from contesting the December 7 polls.
The EC detected several errors on his nomination form, leading to the disqualification.
IPP had earlier indicated, it will make a public announcement on which party it will support in the election.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, November 17, Kofi Apaloo said after several consultations with the various political parties in a bid to partner them, it was the NPP that was forthcoming.
“We are a new party but I can tell you if you give us the opportunity we can transform Ghana,” he said.
“We believe that when it comes to job creation we have fantastic ideas about creating jobs and also putting monies directly in people’s pocket.”
He added that “we decided to speak to the parties and one of the parties that we spoke to gave us the opportunity to help them implementing this idea with them”.
“That doesn’t mean we are going to be part of their party. We are only helping the party now to win election and after that we re-organize ourselves.
“The one that we have agreed to work with is also preaching jobs, jobs and this party is NPP.”
