The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) and the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council is expected to begin its plan to decongest the pavements and roads of traders.
The Ashanti regional Co-ordinating director, Mr. Kofi Dwumoh Asubonteng hinted that Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) together with the region coordinating council will reinforce its decongestion exercise to eject all traders and hawkers who ply the central business district pavement to enhance free movement in Kumasi metropolis.
“The exercise is to get the site ready for development into a state of the art market and to make the streets passable to pedestrians” he explained.
Mr. Dwumoh addressing a section of the media after this month’s national Sanitation day exercise held at the Central market, indicated that, the coordinating council in collaboration with the KMA have established a taskforce will take charge of refuse disposal in Kumasi metropolis.
“henceforth any person who disposes refuse in central business district or relents from the monthly sanitation exercise will be arrested by a sanitation taskforce and handed over to the law court to ensure sanity in Kumasi metropolis, irrespective of one’s political affiliate” he emphasised.
He promised to provide waste bins for each street to keep the streets clean.
