Traditional authorities of Kintampo area are angry with government delegation led by the Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia who were there to commiserate with the families of the Kintampo Waterfalls victims.
The delegation was in the area to show solidarity with students of Wenchi Methodist Secondary School currently responding to treatment after a storm was said to have caused a tree to fall on revelers, killing at least 20 students and injuring several others.
The delegation including the Brong Ahafo Region Minister, Hon Asoma-Cheremeh announced government will bear the cost of treatment of the injured persons and the funeral expenses of the dead.
But the traditional authorities of Kintampo Traditional Council are dissatisfied with government.
According to the Kontihene of the area, Nana Effah, they had messages from the constituency executives of NPP that the Vice President will pay them a courtesy call.
“So we were seated in our palace waiting for the Dr. Bawumia and his entourage to come so it can afford us opportunity to brief him the whole issue ….We waited for hours only to hear on radio this morning that he has gone back to Accra ”
“How come you be in a traditional home like this and refused to seek permission from us a custodians of the land?….This is uncalled for and we will want government to come with better explanation, ” the aggrieved Kontihene fumed during radio interviews.????
