The supporter of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who allegedly beat to death an activist of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will be arraigned before court on Tuesday, December 13.
The police in Dunkwa-On-Offin in the Upper Denkyira East Municipality of the Central Region confirmed this on Monday.
Alhassan Agamati is said to have pummeled Ayuba Akakpo to death after the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) on Friday, December 9 announced the results of the 2016 presidential elections.
The attack was amidst spontaneous jubilation that greeted the declaration by the Chair of the Commission, Charlotte Osei.
Speaking on Spark FM on Monday, December 12, Municipal Police Commander Superintendent Dela Dzansi said remand will be sought for the suspect although he has admitted to the crime.
He said the remand is expected to enable the police carry out proper investigations into the circumstances that led to the incident.
The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Dunkwa-on-Offin Government Hospital.
