Criminologist Prof. Ken Agyeman Attafuah has been appointed as the Executive Secretary of the National Identification Authority (NIA) by the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Prof. Attafuah is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Central University.
The former deputy chair of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) will be serving in an acting capacity until a governing council of the NIA is constituted to approve his appointment in “consultation with the Public Services Commission”.
A consultative meeting to begin the National Identification project was on Wednesday January 25, 2016 chaired by the Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia aimed at establishing an integrated Data Warehouse of databases from key public institutions, using the National Identification System as the unique identifier for data items, and automating the processes involved in accessing public services at both national and local government offices.
