Ghanaian-owned total beverage company, Kasapreko Company Limited, over the weekend scooped three awards at the maiden edition of the Ghana Beverage Awards organised by the Global Media Alliance.
Kasapreko was adjudged Manufacturer of the Year, Bitters of the Year with Alomo and the ultimate award of the night, Product of the Year.
The awards which were held at the Accra City Hotel sought to reward beverage companies in the country for their excellent performance in the industry and efforts of consistently, satisfying customers.
Speaking to Today after receiving the awards, Brand Manager at Kasapreko Company Limited, Eugene Ntrah, thanked the organisers for recognising their contributions in the industry.
According to him, the gesture would encourage them to continue to produce more quality drinks for both the country and international.
Mr. Ntrah further called on consumers to be mindful of what they consume with the influx of many beverages onto the market.
“The awards were won through hard work, determination and dedication that Kasapreko has shown of the years,” he said.
He added that “Alomo has over the years stood the test of time by proving to be the best both in the local and international market.”
He urged customers to stay with the brand that produces authentic bitters.
Earlier, in a speech read on behalf of the Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr. Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, commended the organisers for the initiative to recognise Made-in-Ghana products, since the private sector plays a critical role in the country’s economic development.
He said the industry had demonstrated a sense of responsibility in producing quality drinks and that the ministry will work with the regulatory bodies to weed out fake products in the country.
The minister said government had outlined a stimulus package to support existing private businesses to expand their production and urged them to take advantage of the package to broaden their businesses and create more jobs.
For his part, Chief Executive Officer of GMA, Mr. Ernest Boateng, said last year, the Alliance opened nominations for entry into the awards, after receiving over thirty entries from beverage companies in the country, in which a panel of experts including officials from the FRI, CPA, FBA reviewed the entries and finalized the list of awardees for the event.
He said the aim for the event was to ensure that the beverage industry continues to thrive while delivering value to the consuming public.
At the event also was Origin from Guinness Ghana Limited win Ready-to-Drink award, Wine of the year went to Uncle T Red Wine from T. T Brothers Company limited.
Blue skies emerged the Fruit Drink of the year, Nestle Milo from Nestle Ghana won the Chocolate Breakfast of the year, Energy Drink of the year went to Rush Drink from Trillium Industry.
However Spirit of the year went to Castle Bridge Dry Gin, Beer of the year was won by Guinness Foreign Exra Stout with Water of the year going to Bel-aqua and Soft drink of the year went to Special Ice.
