The International Standards Journalists Association (ISJA) has sued the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana for demanding that journalists pay for their accreditation to cover the 7 December polls.
The EC announced two weeks ago that due to logistical constraints, media houses were to pay GHS10 for the printout of the media accreditation to enable them cover the elections.
A statement issued by the election management body said: “Accreditation tags will be given to only those who have formally applied for them and for a fee to be determined by the Commission.”
However, the decision has not gone down well with some media stakeholders such as ISJA which has resorted to the court for redress.
