Former General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Dr Nii Armah Josiah Aryeh has passed on, 3news.com has gathered.
The law lecturer passed on Monday night at the 37 Military, where he has been on admission for the past two weeks.
The rock-solid author is said to have been battling illness in the past weeks.
Dr Aryeh made the headlines in 2004, when he was suspended by the NDC for allegations of bribery and connivance with the then ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
But he later revived his party political career in 2012 as the National Chairman of the Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings’ National Democratic Party (NDP).
He was also one of the few politicians of the opposite divide to visit now President-elect Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to congratulate him after he accepted the decision of the Supreme Court in August, 2013.
Earlier this year, Dr Josiah Aryeh was on TV3’s New Day to discuss the state of Ghana’s politics, raising serious issues with the campaign posture of the ruling party.
