The New Patriotic Party (NPP) says it is its fervent prayer for President John Dramani Mahama to be made candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2020 general elections because he will smoothen their path to victory.
Odeneho Kwaku Appiah Afigya Kwabre South Constituency Chairman of the ruling NPP revealed that Ghanaians will any day choose Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo over John Mahama and said claims that he is the best bet for his party in 2020 is laughable.
“The comeback of John Mahama in 2020 will be cool job for the NPP no doubt about that. Ghanaians are seeing signs of a positive government under Nana Addp Dankwa Akufo Addo”, he disclosed on Kumasi-based Abusua Fm.
He indicates that the stage has already been set for the reduction of corruption, reduction in taxes choking businesses and improvement in business which will translate in the lives of Ghanaians and make them more comfortable.
“Why will Ghanaians leave these traits and go for someone who will still return them to an era where they will be suffering. Every Ghanaian will seek comfort and Nana Addo will be delivering them with that comfort in 2020 so why go for someone who will not “, he asked.
The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) seems to be at the crossroads over calls on the former president to make a return and lead the party in 2020 a decision that has not gone down well with some party stalwarts.
Some argue that he is not the best thing to have happened to the party and want him to take a long bow for others to lead the party into 2020.
The ensuing controversies over whether or not to come, have been more acrimonious with threats by the National Organiser, Kofi Adams to sanction loud-mouthed members.
