Member of Parliament (MP) for Banda constituency in the Brong Ahafo Region, Ahmed Ibrahim, is worried that the xenophobic threat in his constituency can scare investors away.
He made the observation when he visited some schools in Banda Ahenkro to ascertain the situation a week after the threat.
Following last week’s xenophobic threat from a group calling itself Concerned Citizens of Banda Ahenkro, many government workers, especially teachers, deserted the town for fear of their lives.
And since that threat many of the teachers were yet to return.
Speaking to the media after the tour, the MP said the incident could affect development in the area.
He noted that the threat could scare investors who have the intention to go to the constituency to invest.
He said he “is optimistic that the faceless people behind the notice intended to scare people from coming to the area to work would be unraveled.”
To this end, he called all government workers, especially teachers, to return to their posts “because they are safe now.”
