Infantino Visit To Uganda Rescheduled

FIFA president Gianni Infantino has rescheduled his visit to Kampala this weekend in order to be able to meet Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni.

According to communication from the Uganda football association FUFA, Infantino was scheduled to arrive in Uganda for a two-day on Saturday but will now arrive here on Friday evening and depart Saturday.

“The programme has been changed to suit the stakeholders who will meet the FIFA president on the historic visit to Uganda. It was done in consultation with the team at FIFA in Zurich and all parties involved are comfortable with the new schedule,” says FUFA communications manager Ahmed Hussein.

During his visit, Infantino is expected to meet President Museveni, and the First Lady and Minister of Sports and Education Janet Museveni, members of the FUFA executive committee, FUFA members, football sponsors in Uganda and the Uganda Cranes national team.

Since his election last year, Infantino has embarked on meeting FIFA member associations around the globe to share ideas on football development projects.

FUFA president Moses Magogo had said earlier that Ugandan football would change after Infantino’s visit.

“Football needs such contacts for the sport to grow. Ugandan football will not be the same after his visit. It is a great moment for Ugandan football,” Magogo said after the visit was confirmed.
