Incompetence, Mismanagement No Place In NPP

The Chairman of the Finance Committee of Parliament, Mark Asibey Yeboah, says incompetence and mismanagement have no place under the New Patriotic Party government under the able leadership of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Dr Asibey Yeboah, who is also the Member of Parliament for New Juaben South, made this emphatic statement on the floor of Parliament yesterday during the house’s debate on the State of the Nation Address that was delivered by the President on Tuesday.

“Incompetence and mismanagement have no place under the NPP government. Thank God the good managers of the economy are here,” Dr Asibey stated.

The MP’s statement followed earlier comments by the MP for Wenchi and Minister for Planning, George Yaw Gyan Baffuor, to commence debate on the President’s address.

He disclosed that not a single indicator was achieved by the previous government after they had agreed to join the IMF programme and disputed the figures that were put out by the NDC as unrealistic and not a reflection of the truth.

Dr Asibey disclosed further that the NDC government failed to achieve four main targets that were set under the IMF programme, which included restoration of debt sustainability, restoration of macro stability, return to high growth and job creation and to rebuild external buffers, adding that the Mahama-led NDC missed the objectives due to their mismanagement.

According to him the NDC apart from failing to restore the macro stability, moved the country’s debt to a record 122 billion Ghana cedis, stressing that the country’s currency performed badly in the sub-region under the NDC.

The MP indicated that the state in which the NDC left the economy was nothing to write home about.

He gave reasons for the NPP’s boycott of the Senchi Forum held in 2014. He explained that the NPP had to boycott the Forum because the NDC refused to heed to certain advice from then running mate of the NPP, Mahamudu Bawumia, who had consistently pointed out to them what they ought to do to get the economy back on track.

He said the NPP did not find it necessary to be part of the Senchi meeting since it was a complete waste of time and that they were aware nothing new was going to come out from it.

He however assured the House that the country would regain glory under the government of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
