Disqualified presidential nominee of the All People’s Congress (APC), Dr. Hassan Ayariga, has described his disqualification by the Electoral Commission as “painful”.
Speaking Wednesday on Starr Chat on Starr103.5FM, Ayariga said: “I’m not a happy man when it comes to things that I do right and somebody will disqualify us.”
According to him, the EC has woefully erred in disqualifying him as his party is the “most vibrant political party in the country”.
He said the APC has 240 constituency offices across the country with 30 branded pickups, 10 regional offices, and a national office and that the APC is the only party that “satisfies the constitutional requirements of the EC.”
The Electoral Commission Monday, October 10 at a press conference addressed by its chair, Charlotte Osei announced the disqualification of 12 presidential aspirants, hoping to participate in the forthcoming elections – including Ayariga.
Following his disqualification, he went berserk, denigrating the person of Mrs Osei by calling her “stupid” and “foolish.” He said she lacked the qualification to be the chairperson of the commission let alone disqualify him.
According to the EC, it was unable to accept Ayariga’s nomination because he did not “provide evidence on his statutory declaration as to his hometown or residence in the constituency as per legal requirements.”
This, explanation by the commission is laughable, he told Bola Ray, host of Starr Chat, adding that the comments angered him.
“Charlotte Osei’s assertions that I was unable to provide my residential address got me upset,” said Ayariga thus his unguided description of Osei as “stupid” and “foolish” which he apologized for.
“I’m a gentle,” he said.
