I’m sorry for losing my temper – Suhuyini
The MP for Tamale North Alhassan Suhuyini has apologised to the Appointments Committee for flaring up when he was overruled during the vetting of the Minister-designate for Energy Boakye Agyarko.
The chairman of the vetting body Joe Osei Owusu stopped the Tamale North MP from asking questions Monday because he “breached the rules” of the process.
He has been tagged as a “dictator” and an “autocrat” by some members of the Minority including Wa Central MP Rashid Pelpuo.
However, prior to taking the floor to ask his questions on Tuesday during the vetting of Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh – Minister-designate for Education, Mr. Suhuyini prayed the chairman to forgive him for his utterances.
“I sincerely apologize to you for losing my temper,” the former broadcaster opined before the 26-member Committee.
Meanwhile, the chairman Mr. Owusu has maintained he did no wrong by overruling the member, insisting he has been fair to both sides on the committee.
The MP for Bekwai constituency has served notice he will continue to stick to the rules governing the vetting process.
“In all fairness it’s only about two or three instances that I’ve overruled… I think the charge is really unfair,” Mr. Owusu remarked.
