John Mahama, President of Ghana has pledge to maintain Ghana as oasis of peace before, during and after the December 7 election.

His Excellency, President Mahama reiterated this pledge in a documentary posted on YouTube to educate Ghanaians on the essence of peace and as a man leading the campaign.

The 15:20 seconds documentary features Mahama’s quotes on running a peaceful campaign; occasion where he shares his knowledge about Ghana, personal life, meeting with Angela Dorothea Merkel, the Chancellor of Germany and campaign events to proof he has never incited crowd against any party or to cause mayhem.

He was quoted saying “I John Dramani Mahama wish to state my utmost commitment to peaceful and successful election. Indeed, I have more to lose than any of the candidates here if this country breaks out in violence”.

Mrs Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the President of Liberia who was in Accra recently at the program theme: “Cocktail Time with the Champion of Women Situation Room (WSR) and the Chair of ECOWAS”, organised by the WSR also added her voice to the clarion call for peace in the country.

According to her : “If there is violence during the elections and it spills over into the communities, there is likely to be a lot of people that would get hurt, some people can die, properties could be destroyed and once that starts, people take advantage of that situation and it spreads beyond control.”

Adding that the situation in Liberia was not the best in memories, “that is why we want to make sure that Ghana maintains its good reputation of violence-free elections so that the country will continue to grow.”
