Brong Ahafo member of Council of State, Kodwo Agyenim-Boateng, says harnessing agriculture potential will be his priority as he serves on the council.
Kodwo Agyenim-Boateng, who is a trained journalist and father of the current Member of Parliament (MP) for Berekum West, hails from Kyeremasu in the Dormaa East District.
He won last week’s council of state election with 21 votes out of 50 valid votes cast.
Outlining his vision, he said, he would be the mouthpiece of the Brong Ahafo Region.
He indicated that he would provide useful advice to the president so as to help him harness the full potential of agriculture in the region to create job opportunities for the unemployed youth.
“We have arable land laying fallow and Nana’s vision of one district, one factory is going to help this region. We are well-endowed, yet we are unable to harness the endowment. This is a fine chance for me to send the message to the president that we have plenty of arable lands, and we need to explore the possibility of using the land profitably,” he said.
Kodwo Agyenim-Boateng is a product of the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ).
He has worked with the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) and Information Services Department (ISD).
He was the first manager of the Kumasi Abattoir Company Limited when it was established.
