The National Democratic Congress parliamentary candidate for Navrongo Central, Mark Owen Woyongo is hopeful he would be retained as a representative of the people in Parliament in the upcoming general elections.
According to him, the area has seen massive development under the NDC government hence another term in office would be in the right direction.
Mr. Woyongo disclosed this at his campaign launch in Navrongo in the Upper East Region.
The campaign launch started with a procession which saw thousands of party members and supporters including actor John Dumelo and popular boxer, Bukom Banku walked through the principal streets of Navrongo to the Navron-Pio’s palace and then to the COF Park for the campaign launch.
Addressing constituents, Mark Woyongo who is also the incumbent MP for the area said, he plans widen the vote gap between him and his NPP contender, Kofi Adda, by 10,000 votes in this years elections.
According to Woyongo, he has delivered on the promises he made to his constituents during his 2012 campaign.
“I have no doubt that on December 7, the people of Navrongo will vote massively for President Mahama and Mark Woyongo. I am confident because the NDC government has done so much for the constituency.”
“We have drilled over 130 boreholes, the $8.5m Navrongo water scheme couple with the small town water systems in the area is to provide portable drinking water for constituents and end the perennial water problems in the area. We have built five CHIPS Compounds in the area, I have rehabilitated the Kologo and Natugnia health posts and currently rehabilitation works are ongoing at the Gongnia and Nayagnia health posts to enable constituents access health care. We have constructed over 15 Junior High Schools and 20 primary schools and given facelift to some tertiary schools. I will soon distribute 100 computers to basic schools in the area.”
Mr. Woyongo added that, the road network in the area has improved, adding that, a contract has been awarded for the asphalting of Navrongo town roads and tarring of the UDS campus roads.
“The 22km Navrongo-Naaga road has also been awarded for construction and work will start before the end of this year,” Woyongo noted.
Actor John Dumelo urged the youth to vote for president Mahama and Mark Woyongo for more Jobs and development.
