A deputy General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho, has urged the public to ignore the alleged threat statement of Omari Wadie on President John Dramani Mahama.
The deputy party scribe believes that the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman for Ayawaso West Wuogon doesn’t deserve the attention he is seeking for with his alleged threat statement.
According to Mr. Anyidoho, Wadie’s comment is a plot to get him arrested and jailed at the Nsawam prisons so that party faithful will visit and doll out some money to him just like what the NDC members are doing to the Montie trio.
“If Omari Wadie has heard that NDC members have lined up visiting the Montie trio on daily basis at the Nsawam Prisons and so thinks that the NPP will also visit him there and find something small [money] for him because I have heard that nowadays his pocket is not good at all and so he can say all these things and when he is arrested the NPP will come and support him financially, he noted.
Anyidoho made these remarks Thursday when responding to Wadie’s alleged threat statement on the life of President Mahama on Accra-based Okay FM.
President Mahama has been petitioned to pardon a radio talk show host Salifu Maase, aka, Mugabe, and his two panelists Alistair Nelson, Godwin Ako Gunn, who were sentenced to four-month jail term for scandalizing the Supreme Court.
But Wadie contributing to a discussion on Rainbow Radio over the matter is reported to have made a statement daring the President to pardon the incarcerated Montie trio and experience the fate similar to that of the late President John Evans Atta Mills.
“He should not dare pardon the trio, but if he thinks he is a man and understands the law, he should go ahead and pardon them. If he releases them, by election time, he will not be the president … I’m telling you that, if he dares, he will not be the president,” Wadie added.
His alleged outburst has attracted wide condemnation from a section of the public with some pressure groups and individuals petitioning the BNI to arrest him.
But Anyidoho commenting further urged the public not to pay attention to Wadie’s outburst.
“In my opinion, I think he should be ignored”, he noted.
