National Youth Coordinator of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Divine Nkrumah has stated that he would have organized a coup to seize power from the incompetent Mahama led administration if not for our constitutional rule that we currently practice.
The outspoken politician in an interview with Kwabena Agyapong on Eboboba on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm posited that, the situations which led to the various coups in the past before Ghana adopted a constitutional rule are rift under President Mahama’s government.
He indicated that government is currently using various state institutions to intimidate the PPP and its presidential candidate, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom because he remains a threat to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He lambasted the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) for allowing itself to be used to intimidate them by inviting Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom to disclose the source of the GHC 1.7million cedis which he used as filing fees for parliamentary candidates and himself.
He described the move as selective justice, bogus and unwarranted when the institution has failed to investigate the former Transport Minister, Dzifa Attivor over the bus re-branding saga and also failing to chase businessman, Alfred Woyome over the payment of the GH¢51 million paid him.
Divine Nkrumah who appeared furious said the party cannot be intimidated by anyone or a party including the NDC.
A communication team member of the NDC who was on the same show chided Divine Nkrumah over his claims and distanced the NDC and government from the allegations. Winfred Zoryiku said EOCO is an independent institution that cannot be influenced by any individual or government.
