Acting National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freddie Blay has revealed his own party members vilified after Daily Guide published advert of President John Mahama during the electioneering campaign.
According to him, he was accused of championing the cause of the then government instead of promoting his candidate at the acting National Chairman.
Mr. Blay revealed this in an exclusive interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Monday.
There were several adverts of the NDC in the Daily Guide newspaper promoting the re-election bid of President Mahama ahead of the December 7 general elections.
This angered some people in the NPP leading to unabated queries over Freddie Blay’s loyalty to the cause of the party.
But in a rebuttal, the acting chairman said he or the Daily Guide cannot be blamed for acting profession
He said not only is such an action a purely commercial one but also journalistically ethical and falls within the journalistic principle of fairness and equality of practice.
Freddie Blay added that despite the newspaper being pro-NPP, the company must also look at the business side and also make money to keep the company active.
“How can the paper survive without such adverts?” He asked rhetorically.
