National Youth Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sidii Abubakar Musah has asked the youth to stop blaming him for the defeat of the party in the 2016 election.
According to him, every member and leader of the NDC contributed to the defeat of the party and therefore it would be unfair for the youth to blame him.
He added that, the party lost in the December polls because he was sidelined in the last campaign and did not have resources to mobilize the youth.
Mr. Sidii Musah has come under a barrage of criticisms from the youth of the party for being ineffective and inefficient compared to his colleague Sammy Awuku of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who was a major force to reckon with.
Sidii reacting to the allegations said his party neglected him hence his inability to get access to logistics to campaign during the 2016 elections in which the NDC lost to the NPP.
“I don’t understand why the youth keep blaming me for the defeat of our party. Everybody in the party, from the leadership to the supporters contributed to the defeat and so it is important that we come together to work again instead of blaming me alone,” he said on Accra based Neat fm.
According to him, he and his team could have done better if the party hierarchy added them to the NDC 2016 Campaign Team.
This notwithstanding, Sidii Abubakar appealed to all aggrieved supporters of the party to put the past behind them and work assiduously towards the next presidential and parliamentary elections scheduled for the year 2020.
Sidii came under a barage of criticisms after he penned a letter to the police requesting permission for NDC youth to demonstrate against what they termed intimidation from the Nana Addo administration.
Meanwhile, some youth organizers of the opposition NDC say they will not participate in the planned demonstration against the NPP over the seizure of NDC official’s vehicle.
The youth organizers believe the organizer of the demonstration, Sidi Abubarkar who is the National youth organizer of the NDC contributed to the defeat of the NDC in the last elections hence they will not listen to him.
