A defeated parliamentary hopeful in the AbleKuma Central Constituency of the Greater Accra region Alhaji Haruna Halidu, says it is his prayer that E. T Mensah does not emerge victorious at the council of state elections.
He questioned why the veteran politician who is well known in the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) will be seeking for a post in New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Even though the composition of the council of state is supposed to be non-partisan, he observed that it has over the period lost its significance with political coloration of members and therefore does not feel the former Ningo-Prampram legislator deserves a place.
Mr ET Mensah is among 16 contestants from the Greater Accra region who are gunning for the single slot but the former lawmaker believes he stands tall among the rest.
According to him, he still has a lot to offer in his public life which has informed his decision to contest as a member of the council of state.
“If we are able to work together at the Assembly level and in Parliament [why not]?” he said, adding as Sports Minister he had a good relation with NPP MPs.
