I don’t hate Asantehene but he rather hates himself
By Rockson Adofo
I have severally been accused by the mostly insincere supporters of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II of hating him, the occupant of the Golden Stool. I read their bitter protestations of my alleged hatred for Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II in their hate-laden comments passed on my published views about some of his actions that I find very out of order.
For the attention of such overwhelmingly dishonest or hypocritical supporters of his, and the general public, I will today, Saturday 29 October 2016, want to declare to all of you that, I, Rockson Adofo, the proud son of Kumawu/Asiampa, do not hate Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II a minute. However, I have a strong aversion for certain characters of his that I find offensive, if not illegal.
He still behaves as if we were still living in the 17th to 20th Centuries where absolute monarchy was the order of the day. He sees himself as the Supreme Leader of the Ashantis if not the entire country (Ghana), with unrestrained powers to do as he wants when he wants.
Nonetheless, not all of his actions can be tolerated in our current Ghana where Constitutional Laws and the practice of democratic dispensation are fully operational to guarantee the citizenry their fundamental human rights.
He has no right to suggest, let alone, declare that his decisions taken have overriding powers over any attempts by any court in Ghana to reverse them. On what grounds does he make such bold decisions which sometimes may happen to be preposterous and expect to get away with them without anyone able to point it out to him that he has erred? Check the underlying YouTube video link to hear from the horse’s own mouth.
Again, if he arrogates to himself the traditional and national powers he has absolutely no claim or right to, but only because he is the friends of President Mahama and his Mahama family, do I not have the right as a subject of Kumawu/Asiampa and a natural citizen of Ghana, to point them out to him and the general public?
If I do point out his illegalities to him with a bit of emotion, his teeming supporters, supporters of evil practices of course, come out hard on me as being an avid hater of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. They subsequently go the extra mile to threaten me with death, arrest and or banishment from Ghana. Is this not nonsensical if not criminal?
I find his actions as captured on recorded video at Manhyia Palace on 24 February 2014 during the hearing of the invocation of his (Asantehene’s) Great Oath (Asantehene Ntamkese), with the unscheduled but his secretly planned final adjudication of the Kumawu chieftaincy case, as completely a breach of his traditional powers, Ghana’s constitution and the Criminal Code 1960 (Act 29) Sections 239 to 247. Why this assertion by me, one may query?
It is all because he has ABSOLUTELY NO TRADITIONAL RIGHT to seek to, let alone, impose or help to impose anyone on Kumawuman as their paramount chief as contrarily seen to have happened as captured on recorded video and could be ascertained via the YouTube video link below.
He additionally made himself an accomplice to the bribery and extortion that unfolded that day at his Manhyia Palace by his insistence to impose Dr Yaw Sarfo on Kumawu as the Kumawuhene-elect. It is not only that he has no right to assist in the election of a Kumaweuhene, but also, he should have ordered the whole process to stop when the issue of bribery was established.
Kumawuhemaa Nana Abenaa Serwaah Amponsah claiming to have given such hefty sums of money to the Kumawu kingmakers with their demand for further money as told at Manhyia Palace as recorded on video constitutes bribery and extortion. Bribery and extortion are frowned upon by the Criminal Code 1960 (Act 29) and the Warrington Notes on Stool Disputes: Article 13 on Selection of a new Chief.
If I report the infringements by Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on Ghanaian internet news portals after establishing and confirming his obstinacy to change; his persistence in such acts as if they were normal practice, do I stand to be blamed or threatened as being done by some diehard supporters of his? The answer is no, and whoever continues to behave that irresponsibly, threatening to maim, molest or murder anyone rebuking Asantehene for his excesses and miscarriages of justice will in the end have themselves to blame.
The imprisonment fate that befell the Montie FM trio, Messrs Salifu Maase aka Mugabe, Alistair Nelson and Godwin Ako Gunn must serve a lesson to those supporters of Asantehene who feel they can commit crimes with impunity by maliciously seeking to take me on.
I find the actions of these supporters of his weird and bush-like. Readers can ascertain the facts from the comments they pass on my published write-ups and the web link below where one (Albert) Kwaku Akosah threatened me with harm, in London.
I lodged a complaint with the London Police against him; played to their hearing the threatening voicemail messages he left on phones for my attention and published his recorded threats on the internet for greater public circulation. He has since gone underground.
Should he be arrested, he will be either cautioned, banned from ever attempting to contact me by whichever means, prosecuted and jailed. Whichever way he is treated, he will earn a criminal record on his file which will prevent him from getting any job in the United Kingdom for many years to come. This is how serious being a blockhead, going about threatening people’s lives ends you.

I want to point it out to such supporters of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the “Overlord” of Asanteman that they are rather those who do not like him. They, by their unreasonable infatuation with him and his position do fail or are scared to point out his shortcomings to him.
In this day and age, it is insane on the part of anyone to kowtow to, or prostrate to, a King or chief, even when they are abusing you, your neighbours or their subjects as Asantehene is noted for.
Is it not said, “It does not belong to he who is leading to redirect their steps”? Why then are they not pointing him to the right direction but would rather condone his breaches of the law?
Finally, let it be known to his supporters and the whole world that Asantehene rather hates himself by continually committing untoward acts that may give people the chance to rebuke him. If he stops that, nobody will have any cause to castigate him but instead, praise him.
If by standing tall to defend people’s rights and to stop Asantehene from wanton arrogation of powers and other people’s or division’s properties to himself, amount to insolence on my part to him in the eyes of his subjects or supporters, then so be it. It is their cup of tea!
Is it not shameful on his part or that of Manhyia Palace to employ someone only to pass stupid comments on any publication I put out on the internet whether it has to do with chieftaincy or not?
Be judges unto yourselves to determine if I hate Asantehene or he rather hates himself, after reading and cogitating about this publication. Mind you, no one can easily intimidate me because I have the long arm of the law on my side as long as the Kumawu chieftaincy dispute goes.
Once Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II realises his mistakes to calmly pull out of the Kumawu case without committing any more breaches regarding the case, harmonious peace will reign between him and me.
Do I end with an Akan proverbial parlance, thus, “Biribi a nnkoka papa a engye graada/trada”
