A teacher with the United Front Party (UFP) Amadu Babia Latifah has dispelled allegations that she appended her signature on the nomination form of disqualified presidential nominee of the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) Dr. Henry Lartey.
She further refuted claims that she is a member of the GCPP as speculated by its Presidential candidate and members in responses to their disqualification.
Latifah added that she does not personally know and has never encountered Dr. Lartey and that she never received any document to that effect.
Latifah who signed the forms of the presidential nominee of UFP Dr. Agyenim Boateng popularly known as ‘Gyataba’ in Tumu in the Upper West Region is also accused of signing nomination forms of Dr. Lartey.
Speaking on Abusua FM’s Abusua Nkommo hosted by Kwame Adinkrah, she accused members of GCPP of forging her signature on their presidential nominee’s form.
According to her, she received a call from an unnamed member of GCPP requesting her to be a member of the party after news broke that she had signed GCPP and UFP forms.
Latifah stated that she refused to be a member of GCPP, fearing that the details of information she may give, would be used against her.
According to her, she was told the one who had her details was dead when she threatened GCPP.
‘Apart from Nana Agyenim Boateng, I haven’t endorsed any presidential candidate; my husband is the parliamentary candidate of UFP for Tumu that is why I was able to sign for Dr.Boateng. I cannot sign for my husband’s presidential candidate’s form and sign for another, it’s not possible. I never signed the nomination form of Dr. Henry Lartey. I don’t even know him, I have never seen him before. I never received any document from him. I don’t even know how they got my details. I don’t know where the rumour is coming from.
Teachers’ details were collected by one of the banks for a product, so I suspect the GCPP took my details from that bank (name withheld) and forged my signature, because one of the workers happens to be a GCPP member,’ she claimed.
In a rebuttal, a livid presidential nominee of GCPP on Abusua FM, insisted Latifah endorsed his form, saying she is partly the cause of his disqualification.
‘I feel sorry for the girl, she signed my nomination form for me and that of Gyataba, she was a member of our party and then signed for her husband’s presidential candidate,. It’s a very sad situation for the girl…Gyataba is my brother we don’t have to fight over this, we have to try and save the girl from trouble,’ he fumed.
Asked how he was able to get Latifah’s details, he retorted ‘you are not a Judge, don’t try to be a Judge, allow the Judges to do their work, you can’t speak for her, and don’t put me in a situation I would say things am not supposed to say. I feel sorry for her and I don’t want her to get into trouble, don’t get the girl into trouble because she is already in trouble’.
