Hundreds of well-meaning Ghanaians are at the premises of TV3 Network Limited to donate blood to help stock the National Blood Bank.
Among the prospective donors from far and near are businessmen, artisans, professionals and students.
About 40 health professionals from the Korle Bu Teaching and 37 Military hospitals are screening the hundreds for the exercise.
The Public Relations Manager of the National Blood Service, Stephen Addae-Baah, expressed satisfaction at the exercise so far.
“Just two hours into the exercise and we have about 90 donors,” he observed.
“We are hoping to get more.”
He pointed out that a number of persons who wanted to donate had to be deferred due to their low blood pressure levels and weight.
Some have also received counselling due to results from tests on their blood.
The event is expected to close on Saturday after the last blood is donated. It is amidst drumming and dancing.
