It was around 1:35am on Monday, November 7, 2016, at the Nsawam Medium Security Prison where the notorious criminal, Johnson Kombian and two other condemned inmates decided to escape from the shackles of bondage to begin a new life in an unknown destination.
But alas, luck was not on their side as the trio were caught when they were in the process of making their last jump.
The highly spirited inmates led by Kombian, who has mastered the art of breaking jail, began their journey by first escaping from the condemned Block wall.
They had all the tools to succeed and so proceeded to the thick barbed wire separating inmates at the condemned cells and the rest of the prisoners in other blocks.
The skillful Kombian who was assisted by the two was able to cut the barbed wire from beneath, lifted that portion up and off they went.
They were able to pass under the barbed wire without being noticed by anyone around that premises.
Now comes the difficult task – the main thick wall serving as blockade between the rest of the world and inmates in the prison yard.
On top of this thick wall is a well fitted t-horn mesh wire. The trio had plans to cross this hurdle and so decided to climb the wall and repeat the strategy they used in cutting the barbed wire.
But while in the process of doing so, a night wall patrol officer with an A-K 47 assault rifle saw the t-horn mesh wire shaking.
This made him suspicious that some prisoners wanted to escape and without wasting much time, gave some warning shots and put all the security guards on high alert.
Kombian and his two other colleagues became alarmed and therefore retreated to their cells.
The notorious criminal suspecting foul play on the part of his accomplices took a jack knife and slashed off the hands.
The three were later arrested.
