A Ho Magistrate Court today [Thursday], struck out the case involving some persons campaigning for the secession of the Volta Region as an independent State, explaining that the case is beyond the jurisdiction of the Court.
At the court Thursday morning, the Judge declined to hear the case, explaining that the case was beyond the jurisdiction of the court, and advised that it is sent to a higher court for redress.
The complainants are part of a group calling itself the Homeland Study Group Foundation, which has been campaigning for the separation of the Volta Region, and parts of Northern and Upper East Region to form the Western Togoland state, which they claim existed before independence in 1957.
Charles Kormi Kudjordji, Founder of the group, Martin Asiama Agbenu, and Divine Odonkor, were arrested on Tuesday, and charged with treason after their latest event to drum home their demand for a separation.
