As the US heads to the polls on Tuesday to elect successor of President Barack Obama, the Chairman of Committee on Foreign Affairs who doubles as Member of Parliament for Biakoye Constituency Emmanuel Kwasi Bandua has tipped the Democrat Candidate Hilary Clinton to emerge winner of this year’s general elections. The Biakoye legislature said he is convince that Hilary Clinton will implement policies and programs that will be favorable to Africans and immigrants as a whole.
The Mp’s endorsement of Democrat’s Presidential Candidate comes at the back of latest polls putting former Secretary of State ahead of her Republican Candidate Donald Trump.
Several online polls initially gave Hilary Clinton a commanding lead over the Republican Candidate Donald Trump. However closer to the Election Day, the gap seem to be closing, a situation which analysts largely blamed on the recent ‘email saga’ involving the former first Lady, which prompted the CIA to launch an investigation into the matter. An ongoing online poll gleaned on the website of New York Times showed that Hilary is slightly ahead of Donald, 45.3% as against 43.0%.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Committee on Foreign Affairs Emmanuel Bandua maintained that, judging from the foreign policies of the Democrat Candidate, both Africans and immigrants will feel safe under her presidency. Asked if that will not mean Africans continued dependence on the West for aid, Emmanuel Bandua answered in negation. He however said he will not be disappointed if Donald Trump is given the nod although he disagrees with the Republican Candidate’s foreign policies.
Adding his voice to the discussion, Ranking on Foreign Affairs and MP for Subin Isaac Osei said some statements made by Donald Trump on the campaign trail are ‘scary’ and doubt if those who will be affected by those statements will vote for him. Saying it will be difficult for Donald to continue with Obama’s policies on international relations. “We all know his stance on foreign policies and it is not looking good, things Donald says when it comes to immigrants are scary and I don’t think that will receive favorable vote from the immigrants who have vote”
