Vetting of ministerial nominees of Ghana’s new political administration by the Appointments Committee of Parliament begun on Friday with four nominees vetted so far.
First was a former Member of the house and Senior Minister-designate, Yaw Osafo Maafo, who appeared before members of the house to be grilled by both sides of the political divide on his capabilities and other related matters worthy of note.
The vetting started quite smooth but turned rough when members of the minority looked poised to corner the former Finance minister bringing back scandals recorded at his last Ministerial post but were frustrated by a protective committee Chairman, Hon. Joseph Osei-Owusu, First Deputy Speaker of Parliament and MP for Bekwai
However, Yaw Osafo Maafo, an astute politician and economist would not be moved by the theatricals but used the opportunity to clear the air on the CNTCI loan and the Macmillan scandals which he said were a creation of some faceless mischievous individuals.
