A Deputy General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), George Lawson believes the heavy downpour that disrupted the preparation of its 2016 Campaign Manifesto launch is a manifestation of showers of blessings.
“The rain means showers of blessings and not a disruption at all”, he said.
According to him, it shows that God has already blessed the success of the event that will be replicated at the December 7 polls.
Activities at the Sunyani Coronation Park earlier on Saturday, came to a halt due to the rains with police defying the bad weather to ensure maximum protection and traffic control.
The heavy rain accompanied by storm, destroyed mounted canopy stands and other banners hence majority of the supporters and the media took cover to protect lives and properties.
The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) is in Sunyani, the capital of the Brong Ahafo region, to launch its 2016 manifesto ahead of the December 7 elections.
Dignitaries including Former President Jerry John Rawlings, Chairman of the NDC Ebenezer Kofi Ofori Portuphy and other senior members are expected to be in attendance.
The party’s hierarchy has however revealed that more than 50,000 supporters across the country are expected to be in attendance for the event which paves the way for the launch of constituency campaigns.
About 300 security personnel will be deployed to maintain law and order during the program.
