Executive Director of the GA-Adangbe Muslims Council, Nii Nortey Armed Ceazer, has lauded government for its decision to create a new Ministry for Inner Cities and Zongos Development.
According to him, this would help create jobs for people living in less-developed settlements, indicating that development has been brought to the doorstep of the people.
In an interview with Eezy FM in Accra, he said government’s initiatives for development should be people-oriented in order to help them solve their problems.
The inner cities, which consist of Chorkor, Bukom and other areas and the Zongos, have been hit by poverty and deprivation but people do not want to talk about it but “I believe this ministry will have its own offices throughout the county to deal with the over 400 Zongo communities we have.”
He added: “The level of poverty in these communities is high, however, the new ministry will see to it all these people have their share of the national cake.
