Black Stars coach Avram Grant will name his final squad for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations later today, Monday, January 2.
The Israeli coach had scheduled to announce his 23-man squad on Saturday but had to reschedule the press conference to the New Year.
To be held at the headquarters of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the conference will also herald the departure of the 2015 losing finalists to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where they will be camped ahead of the tournament.
The Stars had been held up in non-residential training since Wednesday, December 28 at the St Thomas Aquinas Senior High School in Accra.
They will begin their campaign in Gabon on Tuesday, January 17 – three days after the start of the tournament – with a clash with in-form Uganda before taking on Mali and Egypt in Group D.
Grant’s squad is expected to contain the core side that placed 2nd at Equatorial Guinea two years ago. This will include Golden Boot Winner Andre Dede Ayew and Golden Ball winner Christian Atsu.
But expected to miss the boat will be 2015 Fair Play Award winner Kwesi Appiah, who was sidelined most part of last season with an injury.
