The Minister of Education Dr Matthew Opoku-Prempeh has assured that students of tertiary institutions that government will abolish the payment of utility bills.
Students in the tertiary schools have been complaining about the charges on utility bills.
Some schools owe the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) million of Ghana cedis.
Speaking at the maiden edition of Takoradi Technical University (TTU) graduation ceremony the Director of Tertiary Education at the Ministry of Education, Cephas Agyei Mensah who read the speech on behalf of the minister disclosed that money has been set aside in the 2017 budget to take care of the book and research allowance this year and that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is poised to make teaching a profession of choice.
According to him, the government will ensure that a national research fund is set up in the various technical universities.
